What Happend last week... What happens next...
Just a brief update: I'm back to Europe since Monday...
On my flight from Pittsburgh to NYC a guy was sitting across the aile reading a scary book:
"Thousands not Billions." Subtitel: "Challanging an Icon of Evolution, Questioning the Age of the Earth". I think that's scary. Maybe I will write an book as well someday: "Stupid not Smart" Subtitel: "Challanging an Icon of alleged Human Intelligence, Questioning the right of mankind to exist on this (or any) planet. + questioning the lack of censorship".
btw, one outcome from my Pittsburgh trip: We look for an VP Sales and Marketing for the USA. I posted a job description on LinkedIn. Has to be somebody with a lot of managament and e-commerce experience. A proven executor.
On Wedensday I was at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam at the "Annual Forum on Entrepreneurship" organized by Hasso Plattner Ventures. Was member of a panel there. Was a very good event and I met some interesting people. Will blog one or two videos on it in the next days (in German and on my gruenderszene blog, not here). Main findings for me:
- Hasso Plattner is cool & filthy rich
- Shai Agassi, probably the coming SAP CEO is very cool as well - an inspiring leader (I'm rarely inspired by presentations - his was one of those seldom ones. Highly recommended)!
- Hasso Plattner Ventures seems to be very well rund. They are around for only a year and on a pretty good track already

On Thursday I was in Halle on the Forward2business congress in Halle. It's mainly German and mainly about music/ music industry. I was invited to tell the people there how they possibly could use "individualization" trends for their industry. Main finding: Man, the majors just don't get it. At least this was the impression when discussing with the people (low rank managers) attending the event. They just can't let go their original business modell of building big stars and monetizing the music rights then. How hard can it be to get that there will be much less big stars and much more mid-stars, etc.? I mean, if I expect that the market for the business modell I have will shrink why I stick to this business modell and try to squeeze out everything from it instead of being open to the new trends and just riding them?
Maybe somebody should send the guys the book "Profit Patterns" (which I highly recommend, esp. when you are in you late teens or early 20ies). The first profit pattern there is called: No profit zone. The simple strategy to follow there: Move out! Pretty easy.
O.k., what else we have, coming week I'm in Switzerland (St. Gallen) on a b2v (brains to ventures) event.
That's about it, have to hurry now to see the German soccer team fight the Swedish ones (or, as cper would say, to see Germany fight Sweden).
