back to germany via berlin, taking easyjet. I sat next to the german ambassador for the malteser kreuz (hmmm, I forgot what they do and was to embaressed to ask my neighbour since every child knows). He assured me that "Chancelor Merkel is very nice" and that he was scepitcal abouit her before the election but now would get along very well with her. Today this guy is about to meet with the German president (Horst Koehler). @US folks: the president is less important in Germany then in many other countries. Mainly a representative role. The real power lies with the chancelor who is sharing it with the unions as well as with prime time TV.
